I hope my card has made it to everyone by now.
The front (top half) of mine is a photoshop piece that uses a NASA image as a background and the words for "Peace, Love, Hope" in different languages in a spread that I hope evokes the American flag.
The back (lower half) is where my carved images are. The bordered text is not a carved stamp.
On Election Night, I missed the announcement that Obama got the delegates. I was working on another campaign and we were rather engrossed with watching those results come in.
I used one of my favorite Obama quotes and the 2 sizes of hands to honor the generations that came together to make this happen.

Did you create the picture/photo with Photoshop or what? It is beautifully done.I also love your two hands carve. Your lettering is so good and the quote so apt. May 2009 begin with good health, good prospects and peace for you.

I did use Photoshop, but it wasn't anything fancy. I found a NASA picture here:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/imagegallery/index.html (the best use of my tax dollars! Most of the pictures there are available for use by anyone and it's just great eye candy!) Then typed in the words coloring and waving to give the impression of the flag.
I took a class in Photoshop a bit ago and love playing around with it when I have the energy.
Though I also love Photoshop for being able to make black-n-white images from photographs that I can then carve.

Haven't gotten mine, yet, but look forward to receiving it. It looks great! :)
ReplyDeleteI also love PhotoShop, especially now that it's not just a big learning curve standing in the room with me like the proverbial elephant no one is talking about. I took a PS for Photographers workshop which was great - not only did I learn some great things about PS, I met some great local photographers I didn't know. Everything else, I've learned through using it over the past 10 years or so.
At MacWorld on Thursday, I saw a demonstration of Illustrator CS4 (I have CS3) and learned some really wonderful things about PS in the process. One thing that I hadn't fully realized was that I could bring something into Illustrator from PS and thereby turn it into a vector graphic (thereby making it scalable far beyond what is possible with what PS creates, which is a bitmapped file).
Just an aside for those of you who love (or hate!) PS - it's worth the investment of time to get up to speed with its greatest features. :)
I got in here via eepy Post, thanks so much, eeps, this is a great blog. I'll look forward to checking it out frequently.
